Finally some real rain. It was getting VERY dry here with the high temps, sun, and wind. One gauge measured 1.34', the other 1.44'", so I took the average. There was also hail, but I could not see the size due to the fact that it was around 3 in the morning and the electricity went out. The windows were steamed up and I was not about to go outside." |

Finally some rain. Most of the week the rain clouds have been going past us, all around us, but not over us. Things were in need of water yesterday. At 6:30am the gauge measured 0.15. At 10:30am the rain ceased. |

Yes, we did receive more snow, but because there was already still snow in the gauge from yesterday I was unable to get a reliable reading this morning. Also I did not measure the snow, but it appeared to be at least 0.5 inches additional. |

I measured the snow in several places and found 8 inches to be approximately the average depth. I measured the snow early in the morning because it was melting quickly. Funny how we really got hammered when there was no snow even as close as the airport! I forgot to remove the inner rain gauge, so was unable to get a rain amount. Today I melted the snow that did get into the rain gauge. One gauge read 1.27 inches, the other 1.45 inches. I cannot vouch for the accuracy obviously. |

I waited for the snow to melt because it would be easier to get an accurate reading. The snow was very deep, but I could not get an accurate reading because the depth varied greatly due to the strong wind. Because of the wind my rain gauge reading could even be way off. |

SNOW is a four letter word! I am not sure about how much melted snow was in the gauge because the snow was stacked up on top of the gauge. For some reason it did not all go into the gauge even though I had removed the smaller unit from inside and the funnel from on top. |

The gauge already read 0.37 at 7PM. This morning at 7:30AM there were about 2 inches of very heavy snow on the ground. At 1:00 AM this morning there was a very loud clap of thunder followed by a few brief rumbles. |
